Aluminium Takeaway Packaging – Can I use it in the microwave?

Aluminium Takeaway Packaging

I have aluminium foil takeaway packaging – the type you get when you take away food at restaurants, the one with the cardboard on top and with push over aluminium lip to keep it shut … can you microwave them?

The quick answer no.

Since aluminium is a shiny object, it will cause the rays of the microwave to deflect back causing and you will start to see sparks which will do some damage to your microwave.

Can we suggest you heat the aluminium takeaway packaging container with food in a toaster oven? You could also place the aluminium takeaway packaging container into a normal convection oven. Both oven and toaster oven will do the job for you.

Whatever you do – don’t put the aluminium takeaway packaging container into the microwave.
